This is how the history of Nike goes: Bob Knight took a course with Frank Shalenberger while studying for his MBA at Stanford in the early 60s. Developing a small business with a promotion plan was the semester-long project. Knight incorporated the growing trend that high-quality/low cost items could be manufactured in Asia and mailed to the U.S. for distribution with Bowerman’s attention to quality basketball shoes. Through this, he has found his market segment. Shallenberger thought that the idea was no business guarantee, but surely worthy of pursuing. At that point, nothing came out of the project. In the end, though, it led to the development of all Nike Dunks online. Now you can order Dunks online from all over the planet.
